  • We talk about a lot of things in church, but addic We talk about a lot of things in church, but addiction is rarely one of them, at least in my experience. And according to statistics, it should be discussed. Whether alcohol, drugs, pornography or gambling, addiction is impacting the lives of many sitting in the pews beside us.

It's my prayer that Daisy and Luke's fictional story in Hope Even After can offer encouragement and hope for those whose lives are impacted by addiction. And for those who aren't learning to live with the reality of addiction recovery, I pray Hope Even After brings understanding, compassion, and mercy into your discussions of and dealings with those whose lives have been changed by addiction.

I am an idea person. Here are some of the things I I am an idea person. Here are some of the things I've wanted or wanted to do recently (and some I've wanted to a long time). Wonderful, brilliant ideas ... ideas that my husband has vetoed without consideration.

My only consolation is that as an author, I can write these things into the stories I create. Not that I have yet, but I can live vicariously through my characters. Female Main Character can have a mini cow, should she choose to. Male Main Character can own a mobile bookstore. In the worlds I create, no one can stop their brilliant plans.

All joking aside, my husband is my biggest supporter. He's encouraged many a questionable idea from his idea generating wife. I'm just holding a grudge over my lack of vintage RV turned mobile book store.

In just over a month, my new women's fiction novel In just over a month, my new women's fiction novel, Hope Even After, releases. While it is a stand alone novel, it takes place in Carbondale, Illinois. Guess what else takes place in Carbondale? That's right. My Faith, Hope and Love series.

While you wait for Hope Even After, meet Katie and her friends in Faith's Journey, Grasping Hope, and Relentless Love. You won't be disappointed, especially as there are a few cameos in Hope Even After. Which ones? You'll have to read it and find out.

I'm not a resolutions person. I'm a goals person. I'm not a resolutions person. I'm a goals person. And this week, many of us will evaluate the last year and plan for the one ahead.

As a person, I'm kind of fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants. As an author, if I'm going to get anything accomplished (especially with my work schedule), I need goals. Really, I need goals inside of goals. And rewards. Reaching the goal doesn't do it for me. Bring on the reward for each step along the way.

But I want to be intentional with each goal I set. I want each one to be prayed over and be SMART. Whether it's in your hobbies (like reading great Christian fiction books) or in your job (even when that's writing great Christian fiction books) or any other area of your life, framing your goals in this way can help you succeed (and if you're like me, get that reward).
