My Some Like It Scot review

I love a good rom-com. Opposites attract. Grumpy-sunshine. It’s all good. And so is Some Like It Scot.

You can’t go wrong with Scotland for a setting. The author paints a clear picture, even for those of us who have never seen Scotland. Of course, the story creates the urge to go call a travel agency and see all the places it describes. And the added setting element of the Edwardian experience is a quirky detail that adds humor to a story already set up for humorous misadventures.

Katie is one of those lucky people who seem to find themselves in humiliating and confusing situations through no fault of their own. In fact, she’s made her brand out of her ability to laugh at her setbacks and failures. The chaos that follows her seems over-the-top, but at the same time, if you’re one of those people you’ll find yourself saying, “Yep. That would totally happen to me.” Only hope that it doesn’t, because Katie finds herself in some precarious situations!

But just because she’s learned to laugh at her mishaps doesn’t mean Katie isn’t struggling with a few things. Maybe she’s even learned to laugh because of those hard things from her past. She’s not the only one struggling with the past. The hero, Graeme, is wonderful and lovable and grumpy and tough and caring and all the things all at the same time. But he’s also living from a place of unhealed hurts. Katie’s chaos and Graeme’s steadiness are the perfect mix of personalities. The rest of the characters are equally enjoyable, well, except for one. I don’t like him, but that’s kind of the point. So, well done.

Just as Katie and Graeme offer readers a wonderful mix of personality, their story offers that perfect blend of humor and heart that creates a beautiful five star read.
